Dear Friends,
As you can see for yourself, work has begun on curbing issues which need to be completed before paving begins. While it has always been clear that all of the curbing in our community could not be replaced from the start, the manner and style by which the first few sections have been installed have raised serious issues about aesthetics and ultimately, the effect on property values given the incompatibility of the new curb design with the existing curbing.
The Board is and has been in contact with officials in Brookhaven Town and Brookhaven Highway since the first form went up. We have spoken with Superintendent Dan Losquadro as recently as today. Superintendent Losquadro and the Highway Department are independent of Town Hall and have sole control and responsibility for our project. He will be visiting ourcommunity this week to see our concerns for himself. He should be the first call if you share our concerns.
Councilman Dan Panico, while having no official input with the Highway Department, has been most helpful and understanding about our concerns and has opened the necessary lines of communication for us. We have vigorously stated our concerns and the need to take whatever action necessary to address them. We seek solutions which reflect sound engineering as well as the practical, financial and aesthetic concerns of our community. We have their attention. They have heard our concerns and we are working towards a resolution to use allotted funding to improve our community in a manner which looks more appropriate for our community and allows the new paving to progress. We will keep you posted on our progress.
Should you wish to express your concerns and support for our efforts to either Superintendent of Highways Dan Losquadro (631-451-9200), Supervisor Romaine (631-451-9100), or Councilman Panico (631-451-6502), please do so in a calm, respectful and purposeful manner. Speak from the heart about your concerns. Your contact can only bolster the work of our Board on behalf of the Crystal Beach Association and it is appreciated.
Thanks,
Board of Directors
Crystal Beach Association
Crystal Beach is a waterfront community in Moriches on Long Island, New York.
There are about 150 homes in our community and we have a community organization, The Crystal Beach Association, which unites our neighborhood.
The association does this by organizing community events, administrating a beach and marina owned collectively by the Crystal Beach property owners, keeping an eye out for the community regarding local issues and representing the community interests at local government meetings.
